I.  Negotiation process with the Republic of Moldova

The main goal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2024 was to counteract by diplomatic means the destructive steps of the Republic of Moldova, as well as to prevent the escalation of region-wide instability and to ensure the security of Pridnestrovian citizens.

On 7 March, at the initiative of the ICRC Delegation representatives in the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting of PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with Walter Jeanty, Head of the ICRC Delegation. 

Greeting the guests, Vitaly Ignatiev described the situation in Pridnestrovie since the beginning of the year – the outbreak and development of the energy crisis, its negative impact on the social, humanitarian and economic spheres, as well as the measures taken by the state to stabilize the situation and ensure energy sustainability in the future.

Today, on February 28, at the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, an on-site meeting of Expert (Working) Groups of Pridnestrovie and Moldova on educational issues took place in Rybnitsa in the presence of the negotiation process representatives of mediators and observers. 
During the visit, the experts, together with senior officials of State Administration of Rybnitsa District and Rybnitsa City, inspected the unfinished building at Gagarin Street, 14. The parties agreed to work together on the feasibility of using the premises for educational purposes.

Today, at the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, an online meeting of the transport and road expert (working) groups was held. The meeting focused on issues related to the operation of the Vehicle Registration Offices in Tiraspol and Ribnitsa, along with a number of other topics of interest.

Today, the reporting panel meeting to review the Foreign Ministry’s work in 2024 took place. The event was attended by President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the leadership of the Supreme Council and Government, heads of ministries and agencies of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Akhsar Dzhioev, representatives of the Russian Federation’s Embassy, and other participants.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Thomas Lenk, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office. Kelly Keiderling, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, also attended the meeting.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic gave an extensive interview to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, answering questions about gas supplies to Pridnestrovie, the economic situation amid the humanitarian and energy crisis, the peacekeeping operation, and the prospects for the “5+2” format.

- Can you confirm the information that Tiraspol and Chisinau have agreed on gas supplies from the European market until February 10? Where will the republic receive gas from after this date?

Today, at the initiative of the South Ossetian side, a phone conversation took place between Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev and head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Djioev.

Vitaly Ignatiev informed his counterpart about the consequences of the energy crisis in Pridnestrovie for the population of the republic, the current situation, and possible options for ensuring long-term natural gas supplies.

Vitaly Ignatiev gave an interview to the Russia 24 channel. The topic of discussion was the energy crisis and ways to resolve it. The minister stated that due to lacking natural gas supplies for almost a month, the situation in Pridnestrovie is very difficult. At the same time, according to him, Moldova is obstructing the republic’s access to energy resources.
